Baseball Recap: Wayne Academy Find Success

Wayne Academy posted their closest win since March 7th on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Simpson Academy Cougars 3-1. This was a revenge game for the Jaguars: when they faced off against the Cougars on Tuesday, they had to take a 8-4 defeat.

Colton Stringer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wayne Academy is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Patten Shirley was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Tyler Wooten, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

Wayne Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Simpson Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 18-11.

As of now, neither Wayne Academy nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
