Basketball Recap: Ayva Veltri Key Part of Team Effort in Huskies Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wayne, Hoover was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They skirted past the Lincoln County Panthers 52-49.

Hoover's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ayva Veltri, who posted 20 points and three steals. Veltri has become a key player for Hoover: the team is 4-1 when she posts at least 20 points, but 2-9 otherwise. Bella Haas was another key player, putting up six points along with six boards and five assists.

Hoover was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln County only racked up nine assists.

Lincoln County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Hayden Moore, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. What's more, she also posted four assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chevelle Salmons, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards.

Hoover's record is now 6-10. As for Lincoln County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season.

Hoover has already played their next contest, a 66-37 win against Elk Valley Christian on the 13th. As for Lincoln County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 51-46 defeat against Scott on the 13th.
