Softball Game Preview: Schuylkill Valley Panthers vs. Tulpehocken Trojans

The Schuylkill Valley Panthers will take on the Tulpehocken Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Schuylkill Valley didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-8), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Antietam with a sharp 20-5 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won three matchups by 15 runs or more so far this season.

Kayla Konetsky looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Ella Martin was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Gabby Leone was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.

Schuylkill Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Tulpehocken waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Saints by a score of 7-3.

Schuylkill Valley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Tulpehocken, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

Schuylkill Valley took their victory against Tulpehocken in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 15-5 score. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
