Basketball Recap: Velma Jackson Falls Despite Big Games from Christopher Mitchell and Ethan Cook

Velma Jackson was the 65-57 winner over St. Andrew's Episcopal when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Falcons lost 63-43 to the Saints on Thursday. Falcons fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Saints since Thursday.

Ethan Cook and Christopher Mitchell certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Cook posted 14 points, while Mitchell earned seven points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevon Willis, who had nine points and seven rebounds.

Velma Jackson's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for St. Andrew's Episcopal, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

St. Andrew's Episcopal wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 76-33 win against McAdams on the 22nd. Hopefully Velma Jackson paid attention to the Saints' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Saints at 7:30 p.m. on December 1.
