Basketball Game Preview: St. Mary's Hawks vs. Westwood Rebels

The St. Mary's Hawks will take on the Westwood Rebels on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Westwood will be up against a hot St. Mary's team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. St. Mary's breezed past Siouxland Christian to the tune of 72-32 on Monday. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Eagles are ranked 354th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Westwood posted their biggest win since January 4th on Monday. They blew past West Monona, posting a 72-43 victory.

St. Mary's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points over those games. As for Westwood, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-11.

Everything came up roses for St. Mary's against Westwood in their previous matchup back in February of 2019, as the team secured a 59-31 win. Does St. Mary's have another victory up their sleeve, or will Westwood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
