Glenn is 2-8 against Leander since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Grizzlies will be playing at home against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Glenn's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Cedar Park. The Grizzlies haven't had any issues with the Timberwolves recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Maddy Butler looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brooke Cantu, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brynn Cammacho, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Glenn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Leander's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Rouse on Friday. Everything went Leander's way against Lockhart as they made off with a 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for Leander, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Kylee Arnold made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Arnold was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Avery Barnard was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Madelyn Lee was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-5.
Leander pushed their record up to 18-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Glenn, their victory bumped their record up to 15-9.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Glenn has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Leander struggles in that department as they've averaged .469. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Glenn came up short against Leander in their previous matchup back in March, falling 9-4. Will the Grizzlies have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
