Softball Game Preview: Granite City Warriors vs. Jersey Panthers

Granite City hasn't had much luck against Jersey recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Warriors will look to defend their home field against the Panthers at 3:45 p.m. Granite City has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Granite City is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Saturday. They lost 17-7 to Quincy. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly ten runs.

Christine Myers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Randolph, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, while Jersey put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Collinsville. The Panthers blew past the Kahoks 13-0. The game marked the Panthers' most dominant win of the season.

Anna Kribs and Maleah Derrick did most of the damage at the plate: Kribs went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Derrick went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Derrick has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chloe Beemer, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Jersey was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Collinsville only posted a batting average of .167.

Jersey's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-11-1. As for Granite City, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
