Recap: La Marque Cougars vs. Texas City Stingarees
The La Marque Cougars had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 37-29 win over Texas City on Tuesday. The victory was just what La Marque needed coming off of a 62-20 loss in their prior contest.
La Marque's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tiana Burton, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Taryl Jones, who scored 11 points.
Kamille Merchant and Kalynn Smith certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Merchant almost dropped a triple-double on 9 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 steals, while Smith scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 steals.
La Marque's victory bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Texas City, they bumped their record down to 0-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
La Marque will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Brazosport at 6:30 p.m. on December 12th. As for Texas City, they will take on Galena Park at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
