Basketball Game Preview: Brennan Bears vs. Taft Raiders

Brennan has gone 10-0 against Taft recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Brennan Bears will welcome the Taft Raiders at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Brennan's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

On Friday, Brennan humbled Stevens with a 99-45 victory. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 25 points or more this season.

Brennan had a senior duo take command as Camden Cowgill went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points in addition to eight assists and six steals and Kingston Flemings went 8 for 11 on his way to 19 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. The dominant performance gave Cowgill a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Talon Todd, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points and three steals.

Brennan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Taft was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 69-37 loss at the hands of Harlan. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 767th, while the Hawks are ranked 102nd).

Taft's loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Brennan, their win bumped their record up to 19-2.

Everything came up roses for Brennan against Taft in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 103-49 victory. In that matchup, Brennan amassed a halftime lead of 55-22, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
