Softball Recap: India Mattingly Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Metamora

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pontiac had no problem doing just that on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Metamora Redbirds a 1-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Redbirds: they've now won three in a row.

The result came thanks to Elena Krause's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Pontiac's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was India Mattingly, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Pontiac's record now sits at 26-9. As for Metamora, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 28-8 record.

As of now, neither Pontiac nor the Redbirds have any future games scheduled.
