Basketball Recap: Hearts Academy Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hearts Academy can now relate to. They were beaten by the Notre Dame Academy Irish Wolfhounds 85-22 on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Irish Wolfhounds: they've now lost three in a row.

Ki'Andrey Thomas was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 13 on his way to 22 points along with six assists and four steals for Notre Dame Academy. Thanks to that strong game, Thomas now owns an excellent 45.2% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Geronimo Holmes, who went 7 for 8 to rack up 14 points and eight boards.

Hearts Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Notre Dame Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Panthers challenge the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Unity Christian will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Hearts Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Notre Dame Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 80-40 victory against Praise Academy on the 6th.
