Recap: Hernando Tigers vs. Southaven Chargers
The Hernando Tigers suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 83-58 defeat at the hands of Southaven. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Southaven's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cael Jones led the charge by scoring 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jhordan Shivers, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Hernando has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Southaven, their win bumped their record up to 9-10.
Hernando will look to defend their home court on Monday against DeSoto Central at 7:30 p.m. DeSoto Central is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Southaven, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Horn Lake at 5:30 p.m. on January 27th. Horn Lake knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Southaven likes a good challenge.
