D2 District 9 (8 Man) Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Kyle Cox Dazzles in Sandhills/Thedford Victory

Sandhills/Thedford picked up their 16th consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Kyle Cox. Cox did his part (and then some), rushing for 206 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 111 yards and four touchdowns for the 'W'. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his 20th straight game with at least 119 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Mullen's probably not too fond of Cox given he always seems to get the better of them. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Cox saw the Broncos), he rushed for 286 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 13.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 78 yards and a touchdown on only six passes.

Jesse Reyes Crosses Big Stat Threshold

On Friday, Maxwell got the W thanks in part to Jesse Reyes playing the best football he has all season. Reyes rushed for 209 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (108.6). Those 209 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Maxwell's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. Reyes' next match is against Brady on Thursday, where he'll look to repeat that solid effort.

Sandhills/Thedford Wins 16th-Straight Thanks to Maurice Robinson

Maurice Robinson was instrumental in extending Sandhills/Thedford's winning streak to 16 on Friday. Robinson turned in his biggest game of the season, picking up 60 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

For the season, Robinson has caught 6 touchdowns while averaging 63.8 receiving yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 2.67 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 5.33 rushing yards.

Beau Rice Crosses Big Stat Threshold

Rounding off our Top Five is Beau Rice of Hyannis. Rice rushed for 148 yards while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. He's now once again averaging 100+ rushing yards (100.8) per game.

With so much talent on the field, fans are surely in for an exciting game. The only thing left to see is who brings home the W.
