Preview: West Craven Eagles vs. Havelock Rams
West Craven has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Tuesday. They will challenge the Havelock Rams at 6:00 p.m. Havelock took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on West Craven, who comes in off a win.
Even though West Craven has not done well against New Bern recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. West Craven came out on top against New Bern by a score of 49-36.
Torvonyah Heggie had a dynamite game for West Craven, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Heggie has scored at least 25% of West Craven's points. Another player making a difference was Shalawn Yates, who scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Havelock came up short against West Carteret on Wednesday and fell 39-31. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Havelock in their matchups with West Carteret: they've now lost eight in a row.
West Craven's win lifted them to 2-0 while New Bern's defeat dropped them down to 1-4.
West Craven strolled past Havelock in their previous meeting on Tuesday by a score of 59-41. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Havelock's Adaija Cypress, who scored 12 points. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will West Craven still be able to contain him? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
