The Niskayuna Silver Warriors will venture away from home to square off against the Columbia Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Niskayuna knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Columbia likes a good challenge.
Niskayuna barely beat Amsterdam the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Silver Warriors really took it to the Rams for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-8 win. Considering the Silver Warriors have won five contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Chase Meisner had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 59 yards and one TD, and also picked up 36 receiving yards and one score. He didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble and made seven total tackles in addition to snagging two interceptions. Joey DiPiazza made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 15 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Poem Staten, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Niskayuna didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off six passes before the game was over. Meisner led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Cameron Grasso got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Columbia, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against Bethlehem Central by a score of 28-18 on Friday.
Niskayuna's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.7 points over those games. As for Columbia, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-5.
Everything came up roses for Niskayuna against Columbia in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 40-0 win. Will the Silver Warriors repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
