Softball Recap: New Hope Sets Scoring Season-High Against Clarksdale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Hope). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Clarksdale Wildcats a 24-0 shutout on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Trojans, who have now won five matchups in a row.

Kaselyn Harcrow made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in February. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jeoreia Henry, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, eight RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Minton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and one double.

New Hope always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .844. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

New Hope's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Clarksdale, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.
