Basketball Recap: Deer Park Takes a Loss

If Deer Park was riding high fresh off their 70-28 takedown of Finneytown last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Deer Park Wildcats came up short against the Woodward Bulldogs on Saturday, falling 72-52. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Arielle Gee was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 17 boards for Woodward. That makes it three consecutive games in which Gee has scored at least a third of Woodward's points. Another player making a difference was Leigha Acoff, who went 7 of 12 en route to 17 points and four steals.

Deer Park's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Woodward, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

Deer Park and Roger Bacon will round out the year against one another at at 6:30 p.m. on December 29th. As for Woodward, they will take on Stivers School for the Arts at 5:00 p.m. on December 29th.
