Baseball Recap: Fort Payne Takes a Loss

Fort Payne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the James Clemens Jets. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by just one run.

Ryker Shankles was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

Fort Payne now has a losing record of 8-9. As for James Clemens, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.

Fort Payne and James Clemens should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. Fort Payne will challenge Plainview at 4:30 p.m. on Monday up 131 places (108 vs. 239). Meanwhile, James Clemens (ranked 18th) will meet Sparkman (ranked 72nd) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
