Volleyball Recap: Devine Takes a Loss

If Devine was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Natalia on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warhorses / Arabians fell just short of the McMullen County Cowboys by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Warhorses / Arabians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cowboys apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

While Devine ultimately came up short, they really made McMullen County work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-20, 23-25, 18-25, 15-10.

Despite the loss, Devine saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Greeley Malone had 14 digs and two aces. Those 14 digs set a new season-high mark for Malone.

Devine's defeat dropped their record down to 14-14. As for McMullen County, their win bumped their record up to 19-10.

Coming up, Devine will host Floresville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McMullen County, they will head out to challenge Falls City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
