            Volleyball Recap: Athens Drive Jaguars vs. Millbrook Wildcats        
        
		
        
        
            
Athens Drive was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight  loss. They fell  3-1 to the Millbrook Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  3-0  back in September.
 Athens Drive started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-14, 25-8,  25-19.
 Izzy Martin paced Athens Drive's offense, picking up ten kills. Martin got some help from  Annie Baublitz and her 24 assists. Finally,  Hailey Martin kept Athens Drive's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.
 Leading Millbrook to victory were  Lauren Lanzieri and  Brooklyn Bourquin.  Lanzieri  had 14  digs and six  aces, while  Bourquin  had eight  digs and one assist. Those  six  aces gave  Lanzieri a new career-high.
Athens Drive's defeat dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Millbrook, their victory  ended  a  three-match drought at home  and  bumped them up to 9-15.
 Athens Drive and Millbrook could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage  in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Jaguars will  take on  Leesville Road  at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday with a big rank  disadvantage  (499 vs. 49). Meanwhile,  Millbrook (ranked 235th) will meet New Life Camp (ranked second)  at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday.
