Basketball Recap: Chaputnguak Takes Down Ayaprun in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Chaputnguak had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took down the Ayaprun Jaegers 53-35. That's the fifth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 61-45 victory on Thursday.

Chaputnguak was led to victory by Falesefulu Mau and Felagai Laumea. Mau posted 15 points, while Laumea had 14 points. Mau has become a key player for Chaputnguak: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least 15 points, but 8-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Trennon Abraham, who earned nine points.

The win got Chaputnguak back to even at 12-12. As for Ayaprun, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Chaputnguak wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 82-55 defeat against Nelson Island on the 21st. Ayaprun does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
