Basketball Recap: Emmanuel Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Emmanuel Christian Academy played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Newton Local Indians, falling 51-20. The Lions were down 39-14 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Emmanuel Christian Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Macey Hudson and Mya Lawrence. Hudson posted six points and nine blocks, while Lawrence had four points and five steals. Those nine blocks gave Hudson a new career-high. Nevaeh Skaggs also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Emmanuel Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Newton Local, they pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Newton Local will be playing at home against Covington at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Covington will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Newton Local surely won't give up without a fight.
