Baseball Recap: Kane Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Kane entered their tilt with Eisenhower on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Knights an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Wolves have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Brock Wensel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eric Novosel, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Preston Darr, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Kane always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eisenhower only posted an OBP of .211.

Kane pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Eisenhower, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Looking ahead, Kane will host DuBois Central Catholic at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Eisenhower, they will venture away from home to square off against Iroquois at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
