Baseball Recap: Forest's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Forest lost to Vanguard last Friday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Knights 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted against the Knights since April 8, 2022.

Noah Schoncheck made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cash Liles, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

The victory was the third in a row for Forest, bringing their record up to 13-10. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Vanguard, the defeat snapped their winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 16-4 record.

Forest didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-0 loss against Buchholz on the 7th. As for Vanguard, they have also already played their next match, a 13-1 win against Gainesville on the 8th.
