Softball Recap: Cicero-North Syracuse's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Cicero-North Syracuse had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They never let the Liverpool Warriors get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Northstars have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

The result came thanks to Mila Owens's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cicero-North Syracuse saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Coyle, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Cicero-North Syracuse's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Liverpool, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Cicero-North Syracuse will challenge Colonie Central on Saturday. As for Liverpool, they will face off against Shenendehowa at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
