Game recap: Houghtaling throws for five touchdowns in Artesia's victory over Valencia

Artesia (N.M.) beat Valencia (Los Lunas, N.M.) 49-16 while riding the arm of Drew Houghtaling, who tossed five touchdown passes.

After taking the lead on a Houghtaling touchdown pass to Weston Leaonard in the first quarter, the Bulldogs led 28-9 at the half.

Artesia expanded its lead to 33 points entering the fourth quarter. AHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Zeke Montoya.

The Jaguars' Trase Peperas was the standout player for his team. He ran for one touchdown.



With the win the Bulldogs extended their winning streak to three games. The loss was the third in a row for Valencia.

Valencia (0-3) will play a non-conference game against Atrisco Heritage Academy next week, while Artesia (3-0) will take on Deming also in a non-conference game.
