Basketball Recap: Keller Central Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Keller Central had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Northwest Texans 41-38. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 38-30 back in December of 2024.

Keller Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aniyah Rodriguez out in front who posted seven points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Rodriguez a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Skylaah Benbow, who earned ten points and four steals.

Keller Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive contests.

Keller Central's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-19. As for Northwest, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-20.

Keller Central and Northwest could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Keller Central will face off against Bell at 5:45 p.m. on Friday down 496 places (705 vs. 209). Similarly, Northwest (ranked 690th) will meet Southlake Carroll (ranked 125th) at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
