Baseball Recap: Oakleaf Knights vs. Union County Fightin' Tigers

Oakleaf came into Tuesday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Union County Fightin' Tigers on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Oakleaf got a great performance from Jackson Clark as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. What's more, Clark posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Connor Tant was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of JP Espinosa, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

The win got Oakleaf back to even at 5-5. As for Union County, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oakleaf will welcome Bolles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Oakleaf has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Union County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against University Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
