Softball Game Preview: McLeod Longhorns vs. Detroit Eagles

The McLeod Longhorns will face off against the Detroit Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

McLeod is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Atlanta just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They came up short against the Rabbits, falling 18-5.

Meanwhile, Detroit came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 9-1 win. Considering the Eagles have won three matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Detroit's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for McLeod, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

McLeod took their win against Detroit when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0. Does McLeod have another victory up their sleeve, or will Detroit turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
