Preview: West Valley Mustangs vs. Citrus Hill Hawks
West Valley has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Citrus Hill Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 48-12, which was the final score in West Valley's tilt against San Jacinto on Thursday. West Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-6.
Although West Valley took the loss, they still got scores from David Lawrence and Oswaldo De la cruz.
Meanwhile, Citrus Hill's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by Tahquitz on the road and fell 44-7. While losing is never fun, Citrus Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 845th, while Tahquitz is ranked 264th).
West Valley has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Citrus Hill, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8.
Everything came up roses for West Valley against Citrus Hill in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 47-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Valley since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
