Football Game Preview: Lakeside Knights vs. Deary Mustangs + How To Watch

The Lakeside Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Deary Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakeside comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Lakeside's last matchup with Coeur du Christ Academy could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Thursday. The Knights lost 54-32 to the Saints. On the bright side, the 32- point effort marked the Knights' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Meanwhile, Deary faced Potlatch in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mustangs were outmatched by the Loggers and fell 60-20. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-6.

Lakeside will have to keep a close watch on Jacob Mechling and Jarrett Keen, a pair of players who had a big impact on Deary's prior game. Mechling picked up 130 receiving yards and one score, while Keen rushed for 67 yards and one TD. Mechling was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 50 yards. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Cooper Dammerman, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Lakeside's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Deary, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Lakeside skirted past Deary 40-38 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
