Basketball Game Preview: Novi Wildcats vs. Wayne Memorial Zebras

The Novi Wildcats will take on the Wayne Memorial Zebras at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Novi comes in on three and Wayne Memorial on 15.

Novi will bounce into Friday's game after beating Northville, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Novi had just enough and edged out Northville 49-47. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since January 19, 2024.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wayne Memorial). They claimed a resounding 85-58 victory over Stevenson. The Zebras have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Novi better keep an eye on Carlos Medlock Jr. He was instrumental in Wayne Memorial's win, going 17-for-24 en route to 43 points in addition to eight boards and six assists. The match was Medlock Jr's fifth in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylohn Allen, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Wayne Memorial's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.0 points over those games. As for Novi, their victory bumped their record up to 18-4.

Novi beat Wayne Memorial 57-45 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Will Novi repeat their success, or does Wayne Memorial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
