Soccer Game Preview: South Gate vs. El Camino Real

The South Gate Rams will challenge the El Camino Real Royals at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Gate's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

South Gate is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Venice a 1-0 shutout. The Rams' winning goal came courtesy of Michael Bernardo.

Meanwhile, El Camino Real came tearing into Thursday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Highlanders with a sharp 5-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Royals, who have now won 14 games by three goals or more so far this season.

El Camino Real's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 46 goals over those 11 contests. As for South Gate, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

South Gate came up short against El Camino Real in their previous meeting back in February of 2015, falling 3-1. Can South Gate avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
