Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask El Cerrito). They never let the Swett Warriors onto the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Wednesday. Given the Gauchos' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 169th, while the Warriors are ranked 1226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

El Cerrito's win bumped their record up to 8-2-2. As for Swett, they dropped their record down to 0-13-1 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. El Cerrito will face off against Albany at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Albany's defense has only allowed 0.5 goals per game this season, so El Cerrito's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Swett, they will take on Hercules at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
