Northwestern is 8-2 against Tipton since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Tigers will host the Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. Northwestern will be strutting in after a victory while Tipton will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, Northwestern needed a bit of extra time to put away Eastern. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Comets. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won seven in a row.

Jax Hanson looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Northwestern saw nine different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kade Dill, who scored a run while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Dill a new career-high in hits (two). Another was Teegan Helmle, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Meanwhile, Tipton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Lewis Cass. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Tipton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Northwestern, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Northwestern took their victory against Tipton when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-4 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
