Basketball Game Preview: Oswayo Valley Green Wave vs. Galeton Tigers

The Oswayo Valley Green Wave will head out to challenge the Galeton Tigers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Oswayo Valley and five for Galeton.

Oswayo Valley is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Cameron County on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Oswayo Valley had to suffer through a 64-28 loss at the hands of Cameron County. While losing is never fun, the Green Wave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 672nd, while the Raiders are ranked 194th).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Galeton duked it out withNorthern Potter on Friday. Galeton took a 45-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northern Potter.

Oswayo Valley will have to keep a close watch on MASYN MALACZEWSKI and GAVIN SHUTT, a pair of players who had a big impact on Galeton's prior game. MALACZEWSKI almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards, while SHUTT posted ten points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Galeton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Galeton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Oswayo Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Things could have been worse for Oswayo Valley, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-43 loss to Galeton when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Oswayo Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
