Baseball Game Preview: Patton Panthers vs. Lincolnton Wolves

The Patton Panthers will face off against the Lincolnton Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lincolnton took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Patton, who comes in off a win.

Patton will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating McDowell, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Patton had just enough and edged out McDowell 3-2 on Monday.

The team relied heavily on Trevor Throneburg, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That run was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Lincolnton's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 6-3 to East Burke.

Lincolnton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Karson Cloninger, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

Patton's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for Lincolnton, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Patton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lincolnton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.1 strikeouts.
