Considered the top high school prospect in the country as a senior at Granada Hills, Elway actually missed most of the season after breaking his leg. He went on to Stanford and earned All-American honors there but finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting behind Herschel Walker. Elway was the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft by the Colts, but he forced a trade to the Denver Broncos, where he played 16 years and won two Super Bowls. He was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2004.
