The Perry Commodores will head out to face off against the Elgin Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Perry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.

Perry is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 20 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Botkins on Thursday. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 3-2.

Brodey Douce made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Colten Scott, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Elgin fell victim to Cardington-Lincoln and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Pirates, falling 7-0. The Comets just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Elgin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Timmons, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Perry's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Elgin, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Elgin's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Perry has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .481. It's a different story for Elgin, though, as they've only averaged .350. Will they be able to contain Perry's hitters?

Perry beat Elgin 4-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Commodores since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
