Softball Game Preview: Houston Tigers vs. Gainesville Bulldogs

The Houston Tigers will head out to take on the Gainesville Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Houston's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Houston took on Mansfield on Thursday. Houston was the clear victor by a 21-9 margin over Mansfield. Fans of the Tigers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Makinley Aaron was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Aaron was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Houston got a massive performance out of Lacey Cavaness, who scored four runs while going 2-for-5. Sophia Crites was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

Meanwhile, Gainesville came up short against Bakersfield on Tuesday and fell 5-2. The loss put an end to the Bulldogs' undefeated start to the season.

Gainesville's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Houston, their record is now 3-0.

Houston took their win against Gainesville in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Houston since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
