The Poway Titans will take on the Vista Grande Spartans in a tournament on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Poway 3.6, Vista Grande 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Titans on Friday. Poway wound up with the same score they had in their last game (4-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
Poway got a good showing from Aiden Molinari, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Molinari has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Trenton Uyeda was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Kieran Langdown also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Vista Grande entered their tilt with North Canyon on Friday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They put the hurt on the Rattlers with a sharp 13-3 victory. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by eight runs or more this season.
Eltorna Gant III made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nicholas Valdez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Ruben Baca was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5.
Vista Grande kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Vista Grande pushed their record up to 9-2-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Poway, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
