Softball Game Preview: Atlantic Sharks vs. Trinity Christian Academy Eagles

The Atlantic Sharks will take on the Trinity Christian Academy Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Atlantic will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on April 1st, then bounced right back against Pine Ridge on Wednesday. The Sharks were the clear victors by a 21-11 margin over the Panthers.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trinity Christian Academy). They never let Warner Christian Academy get on the board and left with a 25-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering Trinity Christian Academy has won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Keyrstin Beckett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Trinity Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Nataly Martinez, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Martinez continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Melany Martinez, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Trinity Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.

Trinity Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Atlantic, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5-1.

Atlantic suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Trinity Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Sharks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
