Basketball Recap: Waelder Comes Up Short

Waelder played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Schulenburg Shorthorns and fell 74-37. The Wildcats were down 51-25 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the defeat, Waelder saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Elijah Holloway posted 11 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Holloway is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season.

Waelder now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Schulenburg, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Waelder will head out to take on St. Paul at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Schulenburg, they will venture away from home to square off against East Bernard at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
