Baseball Game Preview: Pineville Mountain Lions vs. Middlesboro Yellowjackets

Pineville hasn't had much luck against Middlesboro recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mountain Lions will look to defend their home field against the Yellowjackets at 5:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Pineville came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 18-6 to Cumberland Gap. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Noah Slone was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Taylor, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Middlesboro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Harlan, falling 12-0.

Middlesboro's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Pineville, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

Pineville might still be hurting after the 21-3 defeat they got from Middlesboro in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Mountain Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
