Softball Recap: Gladstone Extends Winning Streak to Four

Gladstone extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 11-7 in the process. They came out on top against the Crook County Cowboys by a score of 7-2. The game was the first time the Gladiators have beaten the Cowboys on their field since May 8, 2018.

Ashlynne Franssen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Caroline Ashby, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gabriella Gunderson, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

As for Crook County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9. Cowboys fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Gladstone since on Monday.

On Crook County's side, Alyson Ware was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
