Softball Game Preview: North Olmsted Eagles vs. St. Joseph Academy Jaguars

The North Olmsted Eagles will face off against the St. Joseph Academy Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Olmsted comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

On Tuesday, North Olmsted came up short against Black River and fell 7-3.

Elena Scott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Jocelyn Suckart and Layla Salameh stepped up to the plate in a big way. Suckart went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Salameh scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Audrey Schneid also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, St. Joseph Academy brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over Villa Angela-St. Joseph on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Jaguars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

St. Joseph Academy got a massive performance out of Amelia Reyes, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Gus, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and four RBI.

North Olmsted's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for St. Joseph Academy, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-3.
