Preview: Tanner Rattlers vs. Decatur Heritage Christian Academy Eagles
Tanner has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Decatur Heritage Christian Academy Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tanner knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Decatur Heritage Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
Tanner had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They secured a 60-56 W over Sulligent on Saturday. 60 seems to be a good number for Tanner as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Tanner can attribute much of their success to Skylar Townsend, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Matthew Fletcher, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fletcher has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Elyjah Jones, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Decatur Heritage Christian Academy entered their tilt with Hatton with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Decatur Heritage Christian Academy took down Hatton 62-46 on Saturday. That's two games straight that Decatur Heritage Christian Academy has won by exactly 16 points.
Tanner has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 14-10 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Tanner came up short against Decatur Heritage Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 71-65. Can Tanner avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
