Basketball Recap: Bloom's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Bloom couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell to the Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings 41-36. The game marked the Blazing Trojan's lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Joe Jones was Bloom's leading scorer, having posted three points.

Brent Taylor was his usual excellent self, shooting 45% from the field on his way to 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals for Homewood-Flossmoor. That's the most steals Taylor has posted since back in December of 2024. Ethan Howard was another key player, putting up nine points and six boards.

The loss snapped Bloom's winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 21-9 record. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points over those games. As for Homewood-Flossmoor, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-3 record this season.
