Baseball Game Preview: Wilmington Wildcats vs. Stoneham Spartans

The Wilmington Wildcats will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Stoneham Spartans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Thursday, Wilmington came up short against Melrose and fell 5-1.

Meanwhile, Stoneham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Watertown. On the bright side, the four- run performance marked the Spartans' highest-scoring contest to date.

Stoneham's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Wilmington, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Wilmington couldn't quite get it done against Stoneham in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
