Baseball Preview: Maple Grove Red Dragons vs. Frewsburg Bears

The Maple Grove Red Dragons are taking a road trip to challenge the Frewsburg Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Maple Grove comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

The home team had come away the winner the last three times Maple Grove and Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Red Dragons came up short against the Wolfpack on Wednesday, falling 13-2.

Meanwhile, Frewsburg got themselves on the board against Westfield on Tuesday, but Westfield never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Wolverines. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Maddox Sheesley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Blake Weaver was excellent, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
